The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reported that it will close down the entirety of its workplaces across the country, beginning Monday, March 20, 2023 to Thursday, April 20, 2023.

In a public notice, the utility provider stated that the month-long, revenue mobilization exercise was the purpose of the temporary closure.

During this exercise, the ECG will focus on all categories of customers who owe them money, including state-owned businesses. Special teams will monitor and prosecute customers who attempt to disrupt the exercise or undertake illegal self-reconnections after disconnection. We cannot confirm or deny that our prepaid system was hacked.

Except for customer service centers, the head office, regional offices, and district offices will be affected to ensure management and employees’ full participation.

The ECG is asking its clients to take care of their bills expeditiously to stay away from separation and resulting reconnection expenses.

The business issued a warning that legal action would be taken against customers who failed to pay their bills even after receiving a final demand notice.

The ECG also advised customers to pay off their debts as soon as possible because it will prosecute any customer who does not.
