Simon Osei-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has requested that the Kejetia market be closed for the next three business days.

This comes after a fire destroyed the Ashanti region’s central market on March 15, 2023.

Mr. Osei-Mensah claims that the three-day period will give the market management and technical team enough time to assess the extent of the damage caused by the fire outbreak and implement solutions.

According to a Starr FM report, the Ashanti Regional Minister made this statement when he addressed the media following a market tour on March 16, 2023.

There was a thick cloud of smoke coming from certain parts of the burned-out Kejetia market.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, approximately 30 shops were severely damaged.
