Some Residents of New Juaben South Municipality in Eastern Region have threatened to demonstrate against the MCE, Mr. Isaac Appaw Gyasi over deplorable state of roads.

The aggrieved residents, who were not happy with the Municipal Chief Executive, accused him of not being able to account for Gh 132.66 billion old cedis being Internally Generated Fund (IGF) collected under his tenure.

The residents believe that irrespective of the huge IGF generated by the assembly, little can be seen in terms of road infrastructure and other developmental projects.

The group which identifies itself as “Citizens for development” in a press release signed by Mr. Richard Appoh the secretary of the group, reveals that they are planning for a mega demonstration aimed at protesting the deplorable state of  roads and lack of other key developmental projects in the Municipality.

According to the group, their demonstration will come on if the MCE, Mr. Isaac Appaw Gyasi fails to work on the roads.

The protest is geared towards fixing deplorable roads, street lights, traffic lights and also to justify 132.66 billion old cedis Internally Generated Fund (IGF) collected in Koforidua for the period of 2018 – 2020.

“We found that, most of the roads in the municipality are nothing to write home about with deep potholes due to the lack of a proper drainage system in the municipality, and most of the access roads across the municipality were in deplorable conditions.

“We wish to appeal to President Akufo-Addo to appoint selfless candidate as MCE to enhance New Juaben South Municipal development”
