Chairman of the Planning Committee of the upcoming National Delegates Conference of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Joseph Osei-Owusu, has hinted that the party expects over 4,000 delegates to vote on the party’s key constitutional amendments.
According to former Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti region and first deputy speaker of the 8th Parliament, over 50 provisions in the constitution are up for amendment as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s internal structures and enhance operational efficiency during the upcoming National Delegates Conference.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the upcoming National Delegates Conference further disclosed that the proposed amendments have already been circulated to all delegates ahead of the conference.
“The agenda of this conference is to consider the proposed amendments to our constitution.
The document, which has been circulated by our General Secretary to the regions and is intended for the constituencies, also includes a summary of the report, which is about 64 pages. But all of that will be compressed into motions. It is these motions that the delegates will be called upon to vote on,” he reiterated.
