Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, has assured Ghanaians that the government will not tread the same path of political vindictiveness in addressing past governance issues.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Shamima Muslim emphasized the government’s commitment to accountability and due process.

“We want a marked departure and we want to consolidate this democracy, which has taken a huge hit over the past couple of years,” she said. “We cannot tread the same path of appearing to be politically vindictive.”

Shamima Muslim’s statement comes amid scrutiny of the government’s handling of the past administration’s actions. She highlighted the Attorney General’s efforts to engage with the media and provide accountability to the people.

“The Attorney General is one minister who has had multiple engagements with the media so far and given accountability to the people of Ghana, because we know that accountability is one of the pillars of our manifesto,” she said.

Miss Shamima assured Ghanaians that the government will hold former appointees accountable through due process. “We’ll do it with due process and offer them their right as citizens to redress and their day in court to defend their matters,” she added.

She urged Ghanaians to exercise restraint and patience, allowing the legal process to unfold. “If the courts find people guilty, they will face the full rigors of the law,” Muslim said.

In response to concerns about the government’s commitment to accountability, Madam Shamima stated, “We’re not going to run away from that. As a government, we’re very interested in holding former appointees accountable.”
