Nursing trainees at the Techiman Krobo Nursing Training College have rendered an unqualified apology to the NDC and H.E. Former President John Dramani Mahama for voting against the NDC in the 2016 and 2020 general elections.

They said that they were deceived by the flamboyant promises and lies from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Nana Akufu-Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

According to the nursing trainees, the NPP promised to restore the Nursing Trainee Allowance which had been scrapped by the then NDC administration under John Dramani Mahama and subsequently replaced with the Students Loan.

The students said since the NPP took over power, they did not restore the Nursing Trainee Allowance as they promised, nor did they continue with Mahama’s Student Loan Policy. They accused the NPP of neglecting them and pleaded with the former President and the entire membership of the NDC to forgive them.

In his response, the former President explained that the intention of his Government at the time was to ensure that they improved upon the capacity of the training schools by providing the necessary infrastructure that allowed for the training of more nurses into the system.

He said the Government was not able to admit more students because it could not afford to pay the allowances so they thought it wise to introduce the loan policy.
