The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been hit with another blow internally after the recent resignation by founding member John Allan Kojo Kyerematen.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Mr. Justin Kodua the four Mr. Hopeson Adorye, Mr. Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique have lost their membership as a result of what the party describes as “their flagrant breach of the Party’s Constitution”.

The four were accused of publicly endorsing the candidature of a person other than Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

Quoting Article 3(5) A(4) of the New Patriotic Party’s Constitution, the statement said all members of the Party are required to abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party.

In addition, Articles 3(9)(1) of the Constitution provides as follows,

“A member of the Party, who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the Party, or who joins or declares his or her support for another Political Party or for an Independent Candidate, when the Party has sponsored a candidate in a general or By-election, automatically forfeits his or her membership of the Party”

In line with the stated provisions, the leadership of the party is of the view that the four, Mr. Hopeson Adorye, Mr. Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique have automatically forfeited their membership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“They are no longer members of the Party”

The statement finally called on all members to remain true to the duties as per Article 3(9) of the Party’s Constitution.
