The Greater Accra Regional executive committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a word of caution to all members in the region to refrain from campaigning for Executive Position in the party at all levels.

In a letter signed by the Regional Secretary Hon. Theophilus Tetteh Chaie and addressed to all Constituency Chairmen within the Region and copied to all Members of Parliament and also the Parliamentary candidates / aspirants during the 2020 elections, the party called on all persons interested in contesting Executive Positions to rather focus on rebuilding the party at the various branches they belong to whilst they wait for a timetable for the party’s internal elections to be released as and when the time comes.

Hon. Theophilus Tetteh Chaie

The letter further stated that the Regional Executive Committee will not countenance any anti party conduct adding that the Constituency Executive Committees should not hesitate to report offenders to the Region for the necessary action to be taken.

In recent times, some members of the party had declared their intentions to contest various positions at the Regional, Constituency and Branch levels. Some had even released e-flyers on various social media platforms in order to test the waters.

However, the NDC after losing the 2020 elections even as they still insist that they won, despite the Supreme Court ruling otherwise in favour of the NPP, has begun steps to reorganize the party at the grassroot level.
