Man arrested over GHC520,000 property fraud

    A man has been arrested by the Vivian Farm Police station for allegedly defrauding one Philip of Accra.

    Rueben Zomelo is a retired army officer who is now a self-acclaimed land dealer and has been operating with his syndicate within the Greater Accra Region of Ghana for a number of years now.

    According to sources close to betterghanadigest.com, Reuben Zomelo who is a retired army officer, is allerged to have sold a piece of land situated at Lashibi Emef Estates to one Philip at the cost of GHC320,000.00.

    However, after paying the said amount to Reuben Zomelo, who had initially introduced himself as Amegavie Kofi Christian and issued a receipt to that effect, it later turned out that the said land did not belong to him as he claimed.

    Responding to the allegations, Reuben admitted collecting money from the first complainant but was not the one who collected the money from the second complainant.

    Information reached betterghanagest.com that Reuben has been arrested at Abokobi, on Tuesday night by the help of an informant who had been monitoring the movement of Reuben Zomelo.

    One other victim (who wants his name withheld), upon hearing of Reuben Zomelo’s arrest rushed to the Vivian Farms Police Station and complained that Reuben had collected an amount of GHC200,000 from him also.

    The case has been transferred to the property fraud unit at the Ghana Police Headquarters for further investigations.
