The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has announced that it has arrested a key figure in the local drug trade following a major operation in Buduburam and surrounding communities in the Gomoa East Municipal of the Central Region on Friday, 16 January 2026.

The 32-year-old woman, identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei and popularly known as “Mother,” has long been regarded as a central player in illicit drug activities. Local opinion leaders describe her as a notorious figure who had previously evaded arrest.

The raid, part of NACOC’s nationwide campaign against drug trafficking and abuse, resulted in the seizure of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, as well as items believed to be linked to drug peddling.

Several individuals involved in drug-related activities were also taken into custody.

NACOC confirmed that the suspect had been under close surveillance due to her involvement in various drug trafficking operations.
