The Africa Sustainable Energy Dialogue (ASED) is scheduled to convene virtually on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 13:00 GMT, focusing on the theme “Bridging Africa’s Energy Access Gap – Challenges, Innovations & the Path Forward.”
Organized by the Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC), the event aims to address the significant energy access challenges in sub-Saharan Africa, where over 600 million people lack reliable electricity.
The forum will gather more than 1,000 participants, including policymakers, industry leaders, development partners, academics, and innovators, to discuss practical strategies for expanding electricity access across the continent.
Key discussions will revolve around aligning energy transition efforts with Africa’s development priorities, accelerating investment in clean and accessible energy, and tackling persistent barriers such as infrastructure deficits, policy fragmentation, and financing limitations.
Notable speakers include representatives from the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, United Bank for Africa, the African Development Bank, and the World Energy Council, as well as former energy advisers and regulators from Nigeria and Ghana.
ASEC aspires for the dialogue to foster a unified regional approach to sustainable energy, transforming challenges into opportunities for inclusive growth and long-term resilience.
