
The family of the late Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to officially inform him of the diplomat’s passing and to communicate the arrangements for his funeral rites.
During the meeting, Speaker Bagbin fondly recalled his last conversation with Ambassador Yalley, which took place just days before his death. He described the former High Commissioner to India, as a courageous leader whose clarity of thought and conviction left a lasting impression.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of preserving Ambassador Yalley’s legacy for future generations and assured the family of his participation in the upcoming funeral rites.
The Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahuma Djietror, also paid tribute to the late Ambassador, lauding his forthright nature and unwavering commitment to national development.

Chief of Staff at the Office of the Speaker, Kofi Attor, chronicled Ambassador Yalley’s extensive public service career. He highlighted the late Ambassador’s contributions from his time in the Consultative Assembly of 1991 to his roles as District Chief Executive for Cape Coast, CEO of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, and Ghana’s Ambassador to India.

He indicated that Ambassador Pee Yalley played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Professionals Forum, which aimed to bring skilled professionals into the political fold.

Majority Chief Whip and a member of the Professionals Forum, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, praised Sam Pee Yalley’s efforts in mobilizing professionals for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He described his passing as a huge loss to his family, the party, and the nation at large.
Funeral details are expected to be officially communicated in the coming days.
The former High Commissioner to India, died on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the age of 70 after an illness.
