Akroso Senior High Technical School from the Eastern Region which represented Ghana’s Tug of War team placed third in spite of Ghana’s first appearance, winning BRONZE at the just-ended 10th African Tug of War Championship in Zimbabwe, VICTORIA FALLS.

The championship hosted under the auspices of the Zimbabwe Tug of War Association took place from the 19th to the 22nd of June, 2024.

The competition brought together participants from Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, South Africa, and the host nation Zimbabwe, who battled against each other in a bid to secure the ultimate award for the country. At the end of the keenly contested competition, South Africa emerged as champions taking the first position with Zimbabwe placing second followed by Ghana.

Ghana only participated in the men’s 640KG category because Methodist Girls Senior High and the Kayayei Team who had also qualified for the championship could not get the sponsorship for the trip even though the Ghana Tug of War Association (GHATOWA) had made several efforts appealing to corporate Ghana for assistance.
