The Caucus For Mature Democrats (CMD) has added its voice to calls for the removal of the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mr. Godfred Dame from office. This follows an audio recording released by the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The audio in question allegedly captures Godfred Dame discussing a plan to manipulate testimony in a high-profile financial crime case. The case involves former Deputy Finance Minister and current Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa, who are both accused of causing financial loss of €2.37 million to the state.
According to reports, the leaked audio appears to feature Godfred Dame advising Jakpa to intentionally miss a court session to coincide with the Attorney General’s travel plans. This revelation has raised serious concerns about the integrity and impartiality of the legal proceedings and the judiciary.
Since the release of the audio, many people have called on Mr. Godfred Dame to resign. Some leading Civil Society Organizations have also called on the President, Nana Akufo Addo to sack Mr. Godfred Dame if he is unwilling to resign.
In a statement released by the Executive Secretary, Baba Iddrisu, CMD said it fully backs the calls for Mr. Dame to resign.

The Caucus For Mature Democrats (CMD) fully supports Franklin Cudjoe’s call for the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame resignation or be sacked should he refuse to honourably resign. We can’t live in a country where nobody trusts the judiciary besides only the ruling NPP government.
“Let us not also forget that, former president John Dramani Mahama, leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from the National Chairman to the last grassroots member including the CMD have already publicly declared our DISTRUST of the judiciary for various reasons including but not limited to appointing NPP card bearing members to the judiciary.
The same thing applies to the Electoral Commission (EC) where NPP card bearing members like (“Jezebel”) Jean Mensah, Bossman Asare and Appiahene were appointed to the Commission as sector heads in clear breach of the constitution, which creates the impossibility for them to be neutral. That alone is enough reason for any patriotic and peace-loving citizen to DISTRUST the EC.
It is the honest view of the Caucus that, it is high time the National Peace Council, Christian Council, Religious leaders, Chiefs and Traditional leaders searched their voices and talk now to save our constitution, democracy and peace or forever remain silent.
It is not enough to remain silent for 8 years under NPP and only get their voices when the NDC is in office.
The Caucus is also of the honest view that the very essence of creating the National Peace Council is almost defeated rendering the National Peace Council irrelevant and therefore be scrapped for inefficiency or inactivity.
They can’t be silent when the ruling NPP spearheaded the shooting and killing of 8 innocent citizens for 4 years and still be relevant.
They can’t be silent for 4 years when President Nana Addo wasted $20,000 per hour to collapse the economy and still be relevant.
They can’t be silent for 4 years when President Nana Addo buries the little left of the junk economy in a PIT he calls the National Cathedral at a time when many Ghanaians die of hunger, deprivation and suffering and still be relevant.
In conclusion, CMD urges all patriotic citizens to rally behind the visionary John Dramani Mahama and NDC to rescue Ghana from the Nana Addo led corrupt criminals and thieves who looted to collapse the economy and bank of Ghana.
This will enable taxpayers to hold the Nana addo led NPP accountable for opulence and mismanagement to collapse our economy, illegal printing of over Ghc60 billion without due processes and reckless borrowing without profitable investment to help service both our foreign and domestic debts.
Let us come all out in our numbers to vote massively for JDM and NDC to help in building the Ghana We Want for Ourselves come December 7th, using the 24-hour economy to get back on the path of development, growth, and prosperity again.
