The Sakumono Police is investigating a case in which Prophet Owura Jay also known as Stephen Miserenyame Adjei Appiah, Founder and General Overseer of Prayer City Arena International, a church located around Texpo Market, Spintex is alleged to have ordered his ‘boys” to assault three young men, Emmanuel Obaika, Kwame Boateng and William Boafo Mensah who were members of the church but have all stopped attending the church.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of young men numbering about eight who are known to be members and workers at Prayer City Arena, were passing by in front of one Mr. William Mensah’s shop on the spintex road on the dawn of Thursday 28th April 2024 at about 12 am. After seeing that one of their victims, Emmanuel Obaika who was an Assistant Protocol Leader in the church was taking a rest, lying in front of the shop they decided to take a photo of him.
Emmanuel, after realizing that they had taken a photo of him quickly followed them and questioned why they should do so without his consent. The boys then got agitated and started beating Emmanuel up. When Kwame, who is also a former member of the church and a friend to Emmanuel attempted separating them, they included him in the beating. Kwame therefore ran away to inform Mr. William Mensah of what was happening so they both came over to save Emmanuel from the boys.
When William and Kwame arrived at the scene, Prophet Owura Jay who had just gotten out of his car walking towards them with another group of people, pulled out a gun and ordered them to stay off. However, William Mensah also quickly pulled out his mobile phone to take a video of the boys.
Upon seeing that William was about to take a video of the incident, Prophet Owura Jay ordered the boys to collect the phone from William. Before he could say jack, they had pounced on him too, this time with the clubs they were holding.
William Mensah who sustained some injuries on the face, arms and hands later managed to escape and rushed to the Sakumono Police Station where a formal complaint had been lodged.

Speaking with betterghanadigest.com, William Boafo Mensah said that even though he was unable to make a video recording of the incident with his phone, he will be able to identify all those who attacked them. He mentioned Daniel, Caleb, Moses and Gideon as being among the pastor’s team who beat them up.
