
Dr. Mrs Ellen Hagan is the founder and CEO of L’aine Services Limited, Ghana’s leading human resource consultancy, and co-founder of Legacy Girls’ College in Akuse, a boarding school for girls that aims to provide quality education and leadership skills to the next generation of female leaders.
She is also President of the Human Resource Service Providers Association of Ghana (GHRASP) and Vice President of the Bible Society of Ghana.
From Teaching to Banking
Dr Mrs Hagan started her career as a national service person at Mfantsiman Girls’ Secondary School in her hometown Saltpond, where she taught mathematics and physics. She then joined the Volta River Authority as a trainee engineer, where she worked for two years.
She later switched to banking and finance, working with SGS Ghana Ltd for nearly a decade. She rose through the ranks to become the head of the finance department, overseeing the financial operations of the company.
She then moved to Zenith Bank Plc, where she worked for four years before joining Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. She was the acting head of operations of a branch of Guaranty Trust Bank in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where she had her first international exposure. She later became the branch service manager of Access Bank in Lagos, Nigeria.
From Banking to HR and Entrepreneurship
Dr Mrs Hagan decided to quit her banking career in 2018 and pursue her passion for human resource management and entrepreneurship. She founded L’aine Services Limited, named after the French word for “the firstborn” or “the eldest”, to reflect her pioneering spirit and vision to grow and diversify as a leader in her chosen industry.
L’aine Services Limited provides total HR solutions to ensure that every office is in perfect shape. The company offers services such as recruitment, training, outsourcing, payroll management, HR consultancy, and more. The company has branches in Kumasi, Takoradi, Adabraka, an agency in Tamale, and its head office at Sakumono.
She also partners with the counseling unit of the University of Ghana, Central University, and Ashesi University to offer presentations on the corporate world, internship programs, and how to run them well.
Dr Mrs Hagan serves on several boards, including the University of Ghana Business School board and the Danish Sounding board, the Samara Group Board, the EMY Board, and the Christian Sentinel Board, and is a subscriber of Star Ghana.
She was formerly a delegate to ILO conferences on several occasions, representing the Ghana Employers Association.
She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM), and has won over 35 local and international awards and recognitions for her contribution to national development in the sphere of human capital development, including the prestigious CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year award in 2011 and the Ultimate Woman of the Year award at the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY Africa) Awards; an honour bestowed on only one woman each year at a ceremony set aside solely to recognize men.

A Woman of Merit and Recognition
