Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has urged Parliament to intervene in the escalating conflict in Bawku.

The Legislator wants Parliament to investigate the harmful actions that have led to the death of some five persons including the alleged murder of three young men by some soldiers.

“I want Parliament to go into this matter. It’s been happening…because of the conflict situation, there has been some level of tolerance of misconduct, but the excesses are becoming too much. So, we need to step up and demand some accountability even from the military,” Mr. Ayariga said in an interview on Key Points on TV3, on Saturday.

Unknown gunmen earlier fired into a group of people at the community center in Bawku on Wednesday, January 17, resulting in the death of two persons, while four others were injured.

Mr Mahama Ayariga described the incident as dastardly and unacceptable.

Commenting on this matter earlier on the Ghana Tonight show on TV3 on Thursday, January 19 with Alfred Ocansey, Mr Ayariga said “It is unfortunate that we continue to experience this situation that has caused so many lives to be lost, so many people to be injured and hospitalized and so much property to be lost in Bawku central constituency.

“…those who were killed yesterday, that was dastardly, that was unacceptable and the perpetrators must be searched for by the law enforcement agencies  and dealt with.”

Three persons were allegedly killed by some armed soldiers at Sabongari in connection to the people.
