A saloon car caught fire at about noon on Sunday, June 18, on the Bole-Bamboi highway following a mechanical fault.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the saloon car detected a fault in his car and pulled over on the shoulders of the road as he waited for a mechanic.
He managed to drive to a mechanic shop at Sawaba, and as the car was being attended to, it lit up in flames.
The mechanic was reportedly welding the exhaust pipe when it reacted to other elements to produce fire.
The Bole District Fire Service personnel were called to salvage the situation. However, the car was burnt beyond repairs before they arrived.
No casualty was recorded.
The cases of cars bursting into flames have become rampant.
On June 9, a Yutong bus with registration number GT-5190-17 burst into flames at Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region.
Also, on June 13, a 207 Benz passenger car was burnt beyond recognition, killing three girls with others sustaining severe burn injuries at Huu, a community in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.
The sad incident happened when the vehicle they boarded after closing from school caught fire and exploded.
The children who died were aged seven, six, and five.
According to reports, the driver managed to escape.
