The Executives of the Ga Adangme Youth Association in Accra say they are preparing to sue their Treasurer over funds belonging to the Association that has been locked up in their Bank Account due to her refusal to corporate with the leadership of the Association.
According to David Kpodo, Chairman of the Association, Abigail pulled out her services as the Treasurer abruptly without prior notice to the Association. Because she is a signatory to the accounts of the Association the situation is making it impossible to access funds meant for the Association, virtually slowing down the operations of the Association in general.
He also accused Abigail of owing the Association an amount of GH¢4,700.00 which is a loan she took from the association.
He said the Association supported Abigail Tenkpetey during the outdooring of her baby with the amount but when it was due for her to pay back the money, she decided to leave the Association.
According to him, Abigail has refused to answer phone calls from members or executives and also to show up to be taken off as the signatory of the Association’s account.
Abigail Kpentey, in an interview with betterghanadigest.com, confirmed leaving the Association but refuted all the allegations leveled against her.
Abigail Kpentey, a trader who deals in the retailing of tomatoes at the Makola Market in the central business district of Accra said she chose to leave the Association due to circumstances beyond her.
Responding to the issue of her refusal to cooperate with them in order to be taken off as a signatory to the Association’s account, she said her decision was based on the fact that David Kpodo, the Chairman of the Association had come to her stall to insult her. According to her, David addressed her with all sorts of unprintable words that do not deserve to be repeated on betterghanadigest.com.
She also claimed that her ID card is missing and that is the reason she could not go to the bank to effect the necessary changes.
However, in a rebuttal, the chairman of the association rejected this claim, saying that it is an afterthought because she did not tell them that earlier. ‘Even the ID Card she is referring to was sponsored by the Association’. He added.
Madam Blessing, an Executive Member of the Association also confirmed the allegations against Abigail Tenkpetey, adding that they have made several attempts including sending people to beg Abigail in order to get her to at least go with them to the Bank to remove her as a signatory to the account but she has consistently refused.
The Association says it is going to court for the following;
- An order from the Court causing Abigail to pay all debts owed to the Association with interest.
- An order causing Abigail to sign all documents with the bank and the Association stating clearly her disassociation of herself as the Treasurer or member of the group.
- Legal fees
