No matter what you do, we will not vote for you – NDC Delegates charge on Dr. Kwabena Duffuor

Some delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress have expressed their anger toward Dr. Kwabena Duffuour over his decision to take the party to court, filing a suit for an interlocutory injunction to be placed on the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries scheduled for Saturday the 13th of May 2023.

The delegates who expressed their anger on various media platforms including radio, TV, and social media describe the development as a move designed to bring the party’s good name into disrepute.

They accused Dr. Kuffuour of putting impediments in the way of the party and its leadership because he was very much aware of the fact that he was going to lose the primaries miserably to His Excellency former President John Dramani Mahama.

According to one David in Adabraka, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was nowhere to be found when the party was struggling in 2016 and 2020, looking for resources to run its campaign and also facilitate the election-related expenses. Dr. Duffuour was rather hoarding his money and praying that John Mahama will fail so he will get the opportunity to run for the flagbearer position.

Meanwhile, Emmanual Mettle Nunoo Jnr, a member of the Greater Accra Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress and a delegate has called on all delegates to be steadfast in their resolve to give John Dramani Mahama a resounding victory of 99.9% in order to send a clear signal to Dr. Duffuor and his cohorts that the general membership of the NDC was clear in their mind who they want to lead the party into the 2024 general elections.

Speaking on TV XYZ on Wednesday, he opined that Dr. Duffuor had contributed his quota to the party and by large, the state serving as a finance minister under the NDC and therefore should be behind the scene providing advice to leadership and guidance to the party leadership, adding that considering his age, he will perform creditably as a member of the council of state instead of Head of State.

Many have also raised questions about the bedrock of Dr. Duffuor’s campaign will be, if he should be given the opportunity to be the flag bearer of the NDC. They argued that there was no way he could run a successful campaign without referring to the track record and achievements of the immediate past NDC Government, which was John Mahama’s track record.

They maintained that none of the aspirants can take out the achievements of the NDC’s achievements under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama in their campaign messages; therefore, voting for anyone to replace Mahama was more or less an indication that the NDC did not do well under John Mahama. In that case, there was no need for Ghanaians to consider bringing the NDC back.

In fact, the majority of the members of the NDC at the grassroots have threatened to vote against the party if the delegates fail to vote for John Mahama as the flag bearer, insisting that he remains the most popular, marketable, and experienced person within the NDC currently, as far as governance is concerned.
