Refund GH₵65k MP’s common fund – PAC to Suaman Assembly

The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) has directed management of the Suaman District Assembly to refund an amount of GH₵65,000 expended without authorization from the MP’s common fund.

The 2020 Auditor General’s report on the utilization of the District Assemblies’ Common fund revealed that GH¢531,000 was withdrawn from the fund by the Assembly without the MP’s consent for administrative and other expenses. 

However, the Finance Officer of the Suaman District Assembly, Christoph Akplu says efforts have been made towards retrieving the funds with an amount of GH¢65,000 left to be recovered.

During the proceedings of PAC at Sunyani in the Bono Region, the Finance Officer for the Assembly said, “We were able to recover Two hundred and ninety thousand, six hundred and ninety-six Ghana leaving a balance of  GH¢65,604 to be recovered. The withdrawal of the MP’s common fund, we came to meet that problem”.
