Mahama pleads with Military to exercise refrain in the murder case of their colleague

Even though it hurts to kill a soldier in strange circumstances, former President John Dramani Mahama has urged the military to be restrained and let the law work its way through.

He stated that while he acknowledges the impact that such unanticipated deaths have on the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the military must acknowledge that Ashaiman may contain clearly innocent residents and workers.

On his official Facebook page on Wednesday, March 8, he stated, “The military must, therefore, refrain from meting out extra-judicial justice to them.”

This comes after the horrific murder of a young soldier by the name of Imoro Sherrif on March 4 at Ashaiman.

On Tuesday, the Military High Command authorized an intelligence-led operation to locate the criminals.

During the course of the operation, a number of civilians reported being subjected to brutal treatment.
In armored vehicles, soldiers stormed Ashaiman, but 184 people were ultimately captured and turned over to the Ghana Police Service by the Military Police.

The former president expressed his thoughts on the incident and expressed sympathy for the deceased family, GAF, and the “victims of the torture in Ashaiman as a result of this unfolding death of a serving soldier.”
