Mr. William Nlanjerbor Jalulah, the Upper East Regional Chairman for the Ghana Journalist Association has described a press conference held by the ruling New Patriotic Party on Tuesday 28th March 2023 as needless.
Speaking on Dreamz 101.9 FM on the state of our nation program, Mr. Jalulah said “there was no point in organizing the press conference after the opposition National Democratic Congress had held their conference on the same issue, it was needless “
The New Patriotic Party held a press conference at their regional office on Tuesday 28th March in response to an earlier press conference which was organized by the opposition National Democratic Congress.
The NDC held a press conference titled “Upper East must know” which main reason was to speak to current issues affecting the region most especially an alerged abandonment of the popular Bolga – Bawku road.
The contractor working on the Bolga Bawku road has alergedly left site which trigered the press conference held by the NDC.
The NPP however believe that the NDC has peddled some falsehood to the residents by citing that the contractor left site because of money issues which is caused by the Debt exchange programme.
This triggered the counter press conference by the NPP which was titled “The abandonment of the Bolga – Bawku Pulmakom road, setting the records straight THE HARD TRUTH”
The press conference was however heavily criticized for the failure of the communication Director of the NPP to provide answers to the whereabouts of the contractor and why the contractor left site.
The Regional communication Director of the NPP Hon. Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga after reading the statement at the press conference was faced with several questions from media people, most of which were directed to the whereabout of the contractor and why he left site?
But in his response, Hon Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga stated categorically that he is not aware of either the whereabout of the contractor or why he left site.
He also added that neither the Ministry of Highways, the regional minister nor the regional office of the party is able to give answers to the questions posed because the contractor has not officially written to the Highways Authority.
These responses however did not go down with most of the people who listened to the speech.
