Kwesi Pratt Jr., a seasoned journalist, has characterized the vetting of ministerial appointees as “useless” and of no significance.

He claims that the culture of ministerial appointees being scrutinized and broadcast to the nation used to be very exciting but has completely lost its significance and value in today’s world.

Mr. Pratt stated to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” program that the vetting of Ministers designate for Ministries like the Trade Ministry and the Food and Agriculture Ministry, among others, is no longer appealing to the Ghanaian masses because it has become excessively unserious.

He views the vetting as a comedic distraction rather than a serious endeavor to evaluate the candidates.

He mentioned a time when an appointee was asked to sing hymns, which he thought was inappropriate.

“The current state of vetting is not the same as how it began. When the vetting of Ministers began, it was hard to leave your television because everyone wanted to know whether or not the Ministers could do their jobs well and how they felt. Sincerely, we have destroyed it. It is of no use today; many people don’t watch it anymore”.

This time, the vetting isn’t invigorating as it was. Today, I don’t think the vetting is useful,” he said.
