Fire Service Personnel names most important things to do during fire outbreak.
a A ranking member of the Ghana Fire Service DO1 Evans Osei Owusu has named the most important steps that individuals should take when they experience fire outbreak at home.
Speaking on a Fire Safety and Bush Fire Education program on GTV Breakfast Show on Tuesday, 31st January 2023 which was monitored by betterghanadigest.com, DO1 Owusu name said “when you see fire coming up in your house, the first thing to do is to prevent spread if you can, the second thing is to call the fire services and the third thing is to stay away from the fire if you can’t control it.”
He added that “whenever you call the fire service personnel, make sure you give them the exact location of the fire so that with the help of the map that we use, we can easily locate the area”
He also hinted that fire men are dispatched within 45 seconds after the receipt of a call.
In responding to questions why their men delay before reaching the locations of fire, DO1 Osei started that there are three factors causing the delay.
“Issues like bad roads, traffic and access to the location are the things that usually delay us on the way”.
He advised the general public to trust the operation of the Fire Service and engage whenever there a fire outbreak.
“People should understand that the things that we use are machines and anything an happen to them at any moment even on our way to the fire ground, a machine can spoil and that is not lack of maintenance, so have faith in us and help us to serve you better” he appealed.
