The NDC Members of Parliament on the joint committee of Trade and Sports have rejected the outrageous and sleazy GHS80 million provided in the 2023 Budget Statement for expenditure related to the construction of President Akufo-Addo’s controversial National Cathedral.
At a sitting of the committee today, the Cathedral budgetary allocation was shot down by a crunch 11-10 victory after it was subjected to voting.
Since the Government’s decision to commence the construction of the National Cathedral, there has been widespread opposition to the idea.
Many people from all sectors of the Ghanaian society including Politicians, Religious leaders particularly, leading members of the clergy, Traditional leaders and Civil Society Organizations across the country.
Meanwhile, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak has assured the public of NDC Parliamentarians’ commitment to endorse the committee’s recommendation when the report is debated on the floor of the house on Thursday.
He added that he is sure that all 136 MPs on the NDC’s side will be present during the debate and prayed that the NPP side will not be fully represented in order to enable the minority to have their way in support of the suffering Ghanaian.
