‘’The axe forgets but the tree remembers’’
The upcoming Constituency elections has been touted as the most important and hotly contested in recent times. The underwhelming performance of the NPP government has given party faithful hope that come what may NDC shall win the next general elections with a commanding majority in Parliament. The importance of the constituency elections cannot be downplayed.
The last 4 years has been what some observers call a disjointed and dysfunctional leadership in Kpone Katamanso Constituency. Under the current administration Unity has eluded the party. Divide and rule tactics as employed by the chairman has seen him fall out with both the current and former MP’s as well as several Constituency Executives.
CHAIRMAN
The Chairmanship position is a straight contest between the incumbent Nicholas Ofei and Organizer Haruna Mahama. Our Elders say ‘’he who refuses to obey cannot rule’’.
Most delegates say they will boot out the incumbent for incompetence, lack of accountability and disrespect towards party elders and members.
They contend that they need someone honest who will listen and solve problems from the grassroots not elitism as being practiced by the current chairman.
Several on ground and online polls indicate Haruna Mahama will emerge victorious in this polarized contest.
SECRETARY
It will be interesting to see who emerges as secretary after the demise of the longest-serving scribe Mr. Neham Charway. Among the leading contenders include Edward Xorse Dogbatse and Francis Yao Ahashie who some see as a natural successor. In terms of Pedigree and Loyalty Ahashie stands tall.
ORGANISER
‘’Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up’’
Four people are contesting the position of Organizer to succeed the outgoing who is elevating to Chairman. These dynamic and energetic young men include Abednego Afotey Otu, Francis Kwesi Badu, Ernest Harrison Doe and Richmond Hayford.
Going by recent polls, it will be a close contest to call Abednego slightly ahead.
WOMEN ORGANISER
‘’A village without the elderly is like a well without water’’.
Regina Dede Amankquah a deputy is contesting the current Women organizer Diana Fofo Laryea.
To most observers, this is only going to add to the CV of Regina since she will be no match for the hard-working, compassionate, and caring women organizer Diana Laryea.
Her Zeal, compassion and humility makes her the obvious choice to be retained.
COMMUNICATION OFFICER
‘’The art of communication is the language of leadership’’.
The communication officer position is being contested by 3 young men-Martin Adator (Martorx), Ephraim Quarshie, and Gaisie Abochie. After leading thugs to attack a fellow comrade over a disagreement on social media, Ephraim Quarshie’s image has been damaged beyond repair.
The contest is therefore between Martorx and Abochie with the former firmly on top. Martorx is known and loved throughout the constituency for always covering party events and publishing them on different platforms.
Watch Out for Part 2 of the VERDICT in a few hours which will include the Positions of Youth Organizer, Treasurer, Executive Members, and all Deputies.
