Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captian smart has called on Paul Adom Okyere to go and revise his notes before making further comments on Togbe Afede’s decision to refund the money paid to him as ex-gratia.
Speaking on Onua TV’s morning show, Onua Maakye, Captain Smart said Togbe Afede’s decision was indeed an act of honesty and therefore needed to be commended.
Captain Smart took this opportunity to school Paul Adom Okyere by reminding him of similar refunds made by some prominent members of the New Patriotic Party including Former President J. A. Kufuor, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, and Her Excellency the First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo.
“Paul Adom Okyere, you need to go and revise your notes” he added.
Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor rejected the money that was supposed to be his payment for services rendered to the state, which was later used for the construction of the ministry of defence.
Again, he recounted that former President John Agyekum Kufuor also did not receive salary payments from 2000 to 2002 thereabouts.
The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, didn’t accept the emoluments approved for her by Parliament.
She decided to refund to the state, all the monies paid to her since 2017, which amounts to GHS899,097.84.
The First Lady who’s action came on the back of the backlash government had received after it came to the fore that, a recommendation for the First and Second Ladies to receive monthly salaries had already been approved by Parliament.
Captain Smart made reference to the issue of the Christmas trees at the Airport. It was first alleged that the total cost of the Christmas Trees is 118,000 Ghana cedis but later, Paul Adom Okyere who is a Journalist came out to dispute that and told Ghanaians its rather 34,000 cedis.
Captain Smart further accused Paul Adom Okyere of being in bed with the NPP government and warned him to stop defending the government.
“It is not wrong for A journalist to accept work from the government, you are not the only person but you are wrong to try and protect the government,” he added.
Ghanaians were further livid because it was disclosed that, the First and Second Ladies will be receiving salaries equivalent to cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, an aide to Togbe Afede says that Paul Adom Okyere is being manipulated by his paymasters. In a statement he issued in response to Paul Adom Okyere, he accused him of being unethical.
