Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has sailed through his re-election bid as Regional Chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region.

The vociferous Ashanti Regional Chair went past Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), his closest contender, to retain his position.

Although the certified results are yet to be declared by the Electoral Commission, congratulatory messages have already been trickling in for the outspoken Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.

This is the third time he is securing the seat.

In an earlier report, voting in the region had been put on hold following disagreements over the voter register for delegates from the party’s students’ wing—the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON).

Some TESCON members raised concerns over the omission of names and the inclusion of persons who are either not members of TESCON or from non-accredited TESCON institutions on the album.

The development forced a group of well-built men to disallow some persons from voting over suspicions they were not TESCON members.
