A Media, Brands and Culture Expert, Mr.  Kwesi Kyeri Darkwah popularly known in the Arts and Entertainment circles as KKD has taken a swipe at the Ghanaian Parliamentarians for voting for the promulgation of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy).

According to KKD, Members of Parliament (MPs) were not voted to the August House to go and do political party bidding as was seen in the case of the passage of the E-Levy.

“Those guys sitting there as Parliamentarians are there to represent the interest of their Constituents and not their own or party’s interest,” he said on GTV’s Current Affairs Show “The Breakfast Show “, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

“It is because we want them to carry our interest, that is why we pay for their: toilet-rolls, topnotch accommodation, finest cars, etc. so voting against the interest of the people they are supposed to represent should not be…” KKD reiterated.

The Media, Brands and Culture Expert is calling on Ghanaians to vote out any government, or MPs, who on countless occasions proven that they are not in government or in Parliament to carry out the wish and aspirations of their Constituents.

“Where Ghana has gotten to now, it is no longer about political parties, but rather about individuals who are honest, sincere, credible, and desirous of doing the will of their people that need to be voted for to go to Parliament”, the Media, Brands and Culture Expert maintained.

Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress has said that it will repeal the levy when they come into power in 2025.

Speaking at a program dubbed “Ghana At The Crossroads” H.E. Former Prez. John Dramani Mahama said the E-Levy was a retrogressive tax and for that matter needed to be abolished.
