Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has called on the newly appointed NIA Boss, Dr. Bernrd Oko-Boye to consider adding People With Disability (PWDs) to the Scheme, in view f the fact that they need special care.

In a congratulatory message he posted on his timeline on Facebook, Dr. Boamah said National Health Insurance funding for People With Disability (PWDs) is an issue that is very dear to his heart and mind.

“Congratulations! Dr. Bernard Oko-Boye for your appointment as (acting) CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority.

I urge you to heal the ailing National Health Insurance Scheme, for the NHIS is lying prostrate in excruciating colicky pain.

As a result, “Cash and Carry” is back in many health institutions.

To succeed, you need political support to free and release NHIS cash (which the finance ministry withholds unjustifiably) to the National Health Insurance Authority.

Last but not least, please consider my pet subject (which is very dear to my heart and mind): NHIS funding for People with Disabilities (PWDs).

I encourage you to support PWDs in a very special way because they have special needs.

I sincerely wish you well.”
