The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah has justified snatching ballot papers on the floor of Parliament, during the election of Speaker of Parliament.

Speaking on UTV’s morning show on Monday, Carlos Ahenkorah said he does not regret doing what he did at all, adding that he will die for his party.
He said if his colleagues had supported him in his attempt to disrupt the process, E-levy would have been passed immediately after its introduction.
According to him, the situation whereby the speaker is not on the side of the majority does not empower the majority to always have its way
He said the speaker himself is not happy about the situation stating that he has lamented about the fact that bills are not being passed by the house as expected because of this.
Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah snatched ballot papers from the hands of the parliamentary official and bolted through the exit of the chamber amidst resistance from his colleagues.
Fortunately, he was not successful as he was accosted by security and some MPs before he could leave the chamber and the ballots retrieved.
Responding to him, Eric who was also on the show advised him to desist from justifying the act because since they are opinion leaders in the various communities they come from, many people particularly the youth are looking up to them as leaders.
He continued by saying that running away with the ballot paper on the floor of parliament was criminal according to the laws of Ghana, and should not be justified by any well-meaning person.
He added that as members of parliament, they are supposed to represent the interest of the nation and not that of their party. Again, as lawmakers, they are supposed to set a good example for their constituents by respecting the laws they make.
