The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced it will be reconstructing the transmission lines from the Achimota substation through Avenor to the Mallam substation.
“The work involves talking out of service, two 161KV transmission lines (I.e. Achimota – Accra Central and Achimota – Mallam) from Saturday, April 9, 2022, to Thursday, June 30, 2022,” it stated.
During this period, customers served by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) between the Achimota substation in Dzorwulu and Avenor in Accra will experience power outages during the day.
“The outage is to enable GRIDCo to upgrade the transmission capacity on each line. This important exercise is to meet the growing demand for electricity in Accra and its environs,” GRIDCO explained.
“GRIDCo apologises for any inconvenience caused during the period.”
Ghana Grid Company is an electricity transmission company in Ghana. GRIDCo was incorporated on December 15, 2006, as a private limited liability company and started operations in 2008 following the transfer of the core staff and power transmission assets from Volta River Authority with a mandate to ensure the provision of transparent, non-discriminatory, and open access to the transmission grid for all the participants in the power market particularly, power generators and bulk consumers and thus bring about efficiency in power delivery.
