Zorkor united SC has elevated its status and thereby qualified for the next stage in their strive to be upgraded from division three to division two after winning Soe Millennium stars with a lone goal in the ongoing Bongo DFA 2020/2021division three league.
The match which was played at Zorkor SHS Park on Saturday, July 24, 2021, received a massive attendance of supporters from both teams including the DCE for Bongo constituency Hon Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga who happens to be a native of Soe as well as some assembly members and other important personalities while officers of the Ghana police service provided security.
In what appeared to be a hot match between the two opponents, both teams strived hard to carry the day but the atmosphere changed within the 33rd minute when the net of the away team got shaken with what I described as an invisible kick from Norbert Asanyuure the #17 jersey player of Zorkor United.
Taking the kick from outside the box, Norbert also known as Hazard lifted the ball into the right side of the net while the goalkeeper stood unmoved probably thinking that the ball was going outside.
The remaining 57 minutes were used in running around the park defending and pushing until both teams received a yellow card each before the referee blew the whistle for the end of the match.
The win, therefore, increased the points of Zorkor United SC to seventeen 17 followed by Soe Millennium Stars, Namoo United FC, and Maestro’s FC all with eight (8) points each with Saabo FC at the bottom with three (3) points.
With one match to be played, the Prestigious Zorkor United SC has already booked a place for a play-off against a yet to be determined club from Zone Two. It may either be Awubgo United, Samba Stars, Dua Still Hope, or Hassan Stars which will then determine their qualification in to the division two.
Hon George Afari, the CEO of Zorkor United cum the Chairman for Bongo DFA congratulated both teams and supporters for making the game a remarkable one, he also appreciated his players for keeping the spirit of the team high and advised them to keep training hard for their subsequent matches.
He also seized the opportunity to caution all supporters to desist from violence.
