It’s been one year three months since young, vibrant and patriotic citizen, Akwasi Tetteh, 47 lost his right eye after preventing unscrupulous persons from illegally fishing in the Okyi River at Dominase in the Assin South District.
Recounting the incident to Daasebre Kofi Banafo at Nap Radio, the victim explained that himself and the Unit committee of Assin Dominase received a report that some persons were illegally fishing in the Okyi river around 9:00pm. After stopping the perpetrators, the Unit committee seized two pumping machines which which were being used in destroying the water to the Chief’s palace at Dominase.
According to Kofi Banafo, the next day after the incident happened, on my way to the farm, two young men one of which was among the people who were destroying the river attacked him and injured him on the right eye after a long wrestle.
The case was reported to the Assin Foso Police command and subsequently was sent to court but nothing much has been done about it.
“For over a year now, my case is always adjourned by the court. My other surviving eye is failing me and have no funds at all to continue going to the court. I’m pleading with President Nana Addo, Chief Justice and Attorney General to come to my aid for justice”.
Meanwhile, the Elders of Assin Dominase has expressed their anger anger at the way and manner in which the court is handling the case, calling upon the government to ensure that justice is duly served.
