The Bono East regional Chairman for the GPRTU who doubles as a special adviser to the national GPRTU executive committee has appealed to all members of GPRTU and citizens to comply by the new fares since the Union has accepted it.
Ghanaians are already aware that effective Saturday June 5, road transport fares will be increased by 13% nationwide due to increase in fuel prices, cost of vehicle maintenances and other factors.
The announcement few days ago has been met with agitations from some driver unions rejecting the percentage increase because it is below the belt while passengers are also crying over it due to current economic hardships in the country.
In view of this, Mr. Kofi Kokwa, Bono East regional chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union has called for calm amongst drivers and passengers as the new prices take effect tomorrow calling for all to embrace and abide by it.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Asta Fm’s Nana Kwadwo Adu in Techiman, Mr. Kofi Kokwa who doubles as a Special Adviser to the National GPRTU Executive Committee said their union welcomes government’s 13% increment and members are ready to comply.
He further cautioned drivers not to take advantage of the change in price and cheat passengers and passengers also not to trouble drivers in their journeys in order to let harmony prevail on our roads.
