Exec. Director of NCC hosts Miss UNi International 2021 Contestants

The Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, Madam Jane Edna Nyame on Thursday the 3rd of June hosted Contestants of Miss UNi International 2021 in a short ceremony designed to enable the contestants to interact with the NCC boss with regards to issues pertaining to the development of the Tourism and Culture sectors in Ghana.

Speaking to the young ladies, Madam Jane Edna Nyame called on them to continue advocacy and education against open defecation at our beaches. She expressed worry over the continues dumping of all sorts of garbage at our beaches and called on the general public to join the campaign to keep out beaches clean in order to attract visitors to the beaches and other tourist sites in the country.

Madam Jane Edna Nyame who is also a former lecturer at the Takoradi Technical University also took the opportunity to advise the contestants to take all the knowledge and experience gathered from participating in the pageant seriously, adding that it is the just the beginning of greater things in their life.

According to Oheneba Akosua Kyerewaa, the Project Manger for Miss UNi International Pageant, the whole idea is all about tourism trips whereby the participants are made to visit selected tourist sites in Ghana and then make their observations and recommendations with regards to ways in which they think those sites could be improve in order to increase patronage both domestically and on the international front.

She added that they are excited since their aim is to promote what we have in Ghana to the world because tourism has supported many Governments across the world to grow their economy in various ways. Adding that the participants are to become Ambassadors for the tourism industry in Ghana.

Touching on the criteria or processes used in selecting the finalists, Oheneba Akosua Kyerewaa said they put out an advert for interested participants to apply with a write-up and a video, upon which the board after reviewing and shortlisting the applicants, then conducted an interview to select the final ten.

The event which took place at the Capitol Restaurant inside Cantonments in Accra came to and end at around 8pm.

Also present was present at the ceremony was Counselor Kweku Adumata who is the Chairman of the Miss UNi International Board and Mr Emmanuel Jewel P. Mensah, head of Research at the National Commission on Culture.
