The Chairperson for Chick4Chicks program says that all the large scale commercial poultry farms that have been very successful in the history of Ghana were started by their wives.
“All the big time poultry farmers, name them, Kwabena Darko, Afariwa, Akropong Farms, Delawin,; all these big farms were started by their wives”.
According to Madam Comfort Kyerewaa Acheampong, the wives started on small scale and then when the husbands realized that it was good, then they join their wives and then eventually take over the farms.
She made this revelation during the official launching of Chick4Chicks 2021, when she was addressing the participants who have been selected to undergo the 6week incubation training program with Delawin Farms.
According to her, if the increasing influx of imported frozen chicken in Ghana must be brought under control, then women also have a critical role to play. She therefore urged the ladies to ignore all obstacle and work hard to make an impact on the national economy.
Chick4Chicks is an initiative of Miss Agriculture Ghana, an NGO committed to promoting the cause of women in Agriculture in Ghana.
Miss Agriculture Ghana was established some four years ago basically to encourage and support young women take up Agribusiness like any other profitable venture or as an alternative venture
