Police in Bolgatanga have banned the celebration of Valentine’s Day in the Upper East Regional capital.

A statement signed on behalf of the Division Commander by ASP Edward Asante said, “most spots/pubs in the Bolgatanga municipality intends to celebrate the Valentine’s Day in a grand style.”

It noted that such a move is “likely to attract a greater number of people, contrary to the executive order of the President in view of Covid-19, limiting number of persons to 25 for funeral and other occasions.”

The police by the statement have, therefore, cautioned pubs and spots the adhere strictly to “the executive directive.”

“Failure to adhere will provoke prosecution,” the statement warned.

The statement was copied to the Black Star Hotel, Blue Sky Hotel, Jocom Lodge, Vea Dam, Soul Train, Tap Hotel, Akayet Hotel, Atula Hotel, and Commci Commca Hotel.

Others include 24 Hours/Akolbila Bar; Racla Spot, Dady’s Pub, Yoggis Pub and UEMS Pub.
