The Food and Drugs Authority( FDA) has explained why it does not allow celebrities to advertise alcoholic beverages in the country following outbursts from singer Wendy Shay that the authority had denied her  some  thousands of Ghana Cedis by stopping her from sealing a deal to advertise some alcoholic drinks.

According to the FDA, it was following the guidelines on the advertisement of food which bars well-known personalities or professionals from associating or advertising alcoholic beverages.

The reason for this guideline, it wrote, is not to deny celebrities income but to protect   young fans and followers of them from becoming plunging into the abuse of alcohol.

“…The guidelines on the advertisement of food states clearly that no well-known personality or professional shall be used in alcoholic beverage advertisement.
