MAIDEN EDITION OF TeenWorld HELD AT SOGASCO

TeenWorld seeks to provide a platform for young people particularly teenagers to address issues that affect their development in society; using peer education and entertainment at the same time developing their talents in fields such as Acting, Music, Poetry, Dance, Public Speaking, etc.

This year, the focus of the event seeks to sensitise young people in school against violence and shall feature live stage performances in Drama, Music, Dance, Poetry, Comedy and lots of excitement.

In his welcome address, Mr. Sellassie K.A. Sokpe, Executive Director of YOTALDO Ghana, said the event is aimed at discouraging young people from engaging in drugs abuse and violence related activities. TeenWorld 2019 is therefore under the theme… Say No To Drugs! Say No To Violence!!

The event which came off at Sogakope Snr. High School, Sogakope in the Volta Region on the 6th of July. Activities included a drama performance staged by the SOGASCO drama group as well as music and dance performances by the SOGASCO students. Others were Mr. Prosper Kofi Agboga, the Music teacher at Sogakope Senior High School, who is also an ardent campaigner against violence as well as other guest artistes including Aduboni A.K.A Wrong Medsin, Book Burner and Mr. Atiana Mathias, a poet.

The event started at 1:30pm and ended at 5:30pm with patrons praising the students for the various artistic talents displayed particularly the drama group.

The South Tongu District Director of the National Commission on Civic Education, who was the guest speaker called on the students to desist from drugs and to pay particular attention to the laws of Ghana so that they can be law abiding citizens in future.
